  • TERROIR : Sand and gravels.
  • GRAPE VARIETY : Merlot 75 %, Cabernet Franc 25 %
  • SPÉCIFICITÉS VITICULTURE-VENDANGES : average age of the vineyards 40 to 45 years.
  • VINIFICATION-ÉLEVAGE : The harvest is sorted optically, placed into thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, using gravity, and then fermented at cool temperatures, before being macerated. Limited quantities of juice are obtained from a small vertical press. The wine is matured for a period of 16 months in French oak barrels.

  • TASTING NOTES : Intense garnet color. Melted aromas of black berries (black currant – blue berry), spices (black pepper and vanilla), bay leaf, licorice and cigar.
    Discreet oak on the palate, good balance between the fruit, freshness and tannins, with a peppery and licorice/menthol finish
  • FOOD PAIRING : roast duck, shoulder of lamb, cooked on burning embers or brie.

Union de Producteurs Saint-Emilion

The UDP de Saint-Emilion was established in 1931 by Robert Villepigue, the agricultural engineer, who managed Chateau Figeac for over 20 years before acquiring Chateau Cadet-Piola. It is the first cooperative winery to be set up in Gironde. Its cellar’s portfolio includes 50 estate brands and 10 own brands. Original, modern and extremely respectful of quality and tradition, this set-up is one of a kind in France. Small vats make it possible to separately ferment grapes from different plots in order to highlight their individual qualities and fine tune blending.
