Prestige du Président 2014 – Corse rouge

This wine is derived from the Pinaccia plateau, which provides a chalky-clay terroir, situated between the sea and the mountains. This area benefits from a mild climate with cool night-time temperatures and good ventilation for the vines. Prestige du Président rouge is a wine made from selected parcels.

  • GRAPE VARIETY : Niellucciu 60 %, Syrah 30 %, Grenache 10 %
  • VINIFICATION : Destemmed uncrushed grapes. Malolactic fermentation. Maturation in tanks at the temperature of 25°C to 31°C, moderate extraction during 20-25 days, maturation 10 months in oak barrels (1/3 new, 1/3 barrels of 3 vintages) for 50% of the volume.
  • TASTING NOTES : Bright deep purple color.
    Aromas of violet, smoke, cocoa-vanilla, fruity black cherry and black currant, a touch of leather, mild spices (nutmeg-cardamom). Crisp and lively attack, elegant oak, associated with good acidity and licorice-mint notes, persistent finish, evoking grey pepper and bitter cocoa, very good freshness and finesse.
  • FOOD PAIRING : creamy pumpkin soup with black pudding, stuffed guinea fowl, and grilled duck breast or t-bone steak.
