  • TERROIR : The vineyard is located on slopes (stony colluvium deposits) and terraces (decomposed gravel), with a chalky-clay subsoil made up of deep marls.
  • GRAPE VARIETY : Grenache noir 50 %, Syrah 35 %, Mourvèdre 15 %
  • VITICULTURE : sustainable vine cultivation.
  • VINIFICATION : Destemmed harvest, long vatting period with gentle pigeage. 15% of the blend is matured 1 year in oak barrels of 1 and 2 wines.

  • TASTING NOTES : Purple ruby color.
    Intense and complex nose, evoking mineral notes and Mediterranean scrubland, black olive and softwood, pepper, game and notes of prunes and black cherries.
    Ample and well-structured on the palate, with velvety tannins, and a good range of aromas – spicy with a hint of pepper and well-ripened fruit. Good fruity and fresh persistence with a hint of smoothness.
  • FOOD PAIRING : guinea fowl or lamb curry.

Ortas – Cave de Rasteau

Established in 1925, this cooperative winery is the chief producer of the Rasteau appellation. Its wines are essentially made from Grenache. Over the past few years it has become the leading supplier of Rhone Valley wines in Quebec, thanks to Ortas Tradition, and is also number one in Ireland. Le Cercle des Vignerons du Rhône is now the result of an service union between three cellars:
